Virtual Psychologist has teamed up with the Queensland University of Technology to support 5 students of the Master of Information Technology degree complete their research for their industry project. The students all have diverse educational backgrounds, are all user experience (UX) majors, and will be prototyping a mobile application to be developed in conjunction with a major telecommunication company in Singapore. The team are following the preferred Agile/Scrum way of working and are all qualified in Agile, Scrum, DSDM, and Prince2 through their master’s degree.
The mobile application is being developed to bring mental health support and coaching to South East Asia, starting in Singapore, in a discreet and accessible way. The team will be presenting a high-fidelity prototype, and design report to the university and Virtual Psychologist. Please read about the team below:
Nelli Holopainen BEng
Nelli is the scrum master – she acts as a servant leader facilitating meetings and coordinating tasks. She also contributes as a UX-designer. She has been described as a multi-talented people person, that is aiming to create a supportive culture in any team she works with. She has learned more about leadership and is very excited to practice her UX designing skills creating personas and customer journey maps. The team, including Virtual Psychologist as a client, has been incredibly supportive, and thanks to that even in this world situation and doing all collaboration online the project has been successful.
Jamie Phillips Arino BSci(Psych), GradCertPH
Jamie is a psychology graduate with a post-graduate qualification in public health epidemiology. Jamie has worked for both national and international organisations such as Queensland Health, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Australian Taxation Office, United Health Group, and Virtual Psychologist. Jamie brings his experience in psychology, and UX research and design to the group and will be performing the role of UX researcher/designer, and business ambassador.
Daniel Chassain BGames&InteractiveEnv(SAA)
Daniel is a previous graduate of QUT under the Games and Interactive Environments course and currently, a part of the development team for this project. Daniel specialises in UX design procedures by applying creative design ideas and gamification techniques. His strengths include problem solving, creative thinking and graphic design. Daniel aspires to apply his newfound knowledge of working with User Experience design within a real world environment towards new and exciting experiences as he hopes to find work in the field of User Experience and UI design.
Kevan is a team player and is skilled in developing user centred products by implementing design thinking process, he is good at simplifying complex data gathered during the process by utilising tabular formats of representations. Kevan has already gained insights in collaborating, UX researching and scrum approach from his team and Virtual psychologist in the initial stage of this project. By the end of the project he aims to gain knowledge in UI prototyping, visual communication and understanding the world of psychology.
Kunal Sharma BCom(Hons)
My roles in the team are UX designer, UX researcher and Usability tester under the Development team member. My responsibilities have been to do a competitive analysis, research, contribute in prototype development and run usability testing with the concerned demographics. With a good idea or prototype development using design thinking and gamification. In the project I have learnt how to coordinate between the team, how to use different skill sets available and optimally utilize them. I have got this amazing opportunity to work with real world partners which has helped me understand the process that goes in developing a product.
